Introduction ການແນະນຳ

ສະບາຍດີ ແລະ ຍິນດີຕອນຮັບເຂົ້າສູ່ບລອກຂອງຂະນ້ອຍ! ຂະນ້ອຍຊື່ຄາຍໂອ (Kyle) ແຕ່ະວ່າຊື່ຫລິ້ນຂອງຂະນ້ອຍແມ່ນ ກ້າວ (Gao). ສະນັ້ນທ່ານຮ້ອງຂະນ້ອຍກ້າວກໍ່ໄດ້. ເລື່ອງນີ້ເປັນຕາຫົວເພາະວ່າຍາມນ້ອຍມີແຕ່ລຸງຜູ້ດຽວທີ່ຮ້ອງຂະນ້ອຍກ້າວ. ໃນປະຈຸບັນນີ້ຂະນ້ອຍເປັນຜູ້ໃຫຍ່ແລ້ວແລະເພີ່ນເຊົາໃຊ້ຊື່ກ້າວອາດຈະຍ້ອນວ່າຄົນອື່ນໆສ່ວນຫລາຍຮ້ອງຂະນ້ອຍ ຄາຍໂອ (Kyle). ລະດູຮ້ອນຜ່ານມາຂະນ້ອຍໄດ້ຮຽນຮູ້ກຽວກັບພາສາລາວເຕີ່ມອີກ (ຂໍໄປເບີ່ງ SEASSI ຢູ່ມະຫາວິທະຍາໄລ Wisconsin-Madison. ພວກເຂົາສອນພາສາລາວ, ພາສາໄທ, ພາສາວຽດນາມ, ພາສາມົ້ງ, ແລະ ອື່ນໆ!). ເພາະສະນັ້ນໄດ້ຮຽນຮູ້ວ່າຊື່ຫລິ້ນຂອງຂະນ້ອຍມີຄວາມໝາຍດີ. ແລ້ວຂະນ້ອຍຢາກໃຊ້ຊື່ກ້າວອີກເທື່ອໜື່ງຂະນະທີ່ກ້າວໜ້າ.

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Kyle, but you can call me Gao as well. Apparently, my Lao name is Gao (ກ້າວ), as in Gao Na (ກ້າວໜ້າ), which means to advance or to progress. Ironically, I remember only one uncle who called me by that name, but as I grew up, he slowly stopped calling me Gao because everyone else simply refers to me as Kyle. After having learned more about the Lao language (check out SEASSI at UW-Madison for college credits in Southeast Asian languages like Lao, Vietnamese, Thai, Hmong, and more!), I realized it has quite an auspicious meaning, so I’d like to keep it moving forward.

My objective with this blog is to practice my Lao writing skills in a casual manner while at the same time exploring aspects of what it means to be Lao-American. Apologies in advance if I make any grammatical, spelling, or other language errors. The English version (i.e. the version that is hopefully free of errors) of what I write will typically be provided in case I fail to properly convey my thoughts. I hope you enjoy the topics about which I write as much as I do!
